# Weak and Unenforced Rules: When the rules aren’t strong and strictly enforced, it creates an environment where corruption can thrive. Without clear and enforced guidelines, some people may take advantage of the system, doing things that are not allowed without facing serious consequences. This lack of control can make corruption, like bribery or embezzlement, more common. To prevent corruption, it’s crucial to have strong and fair rules, ensure transparency, and enforce the laws effectively.

# Job-Related Bribes: In order to secure a government or non-government job, individuals are often required to pay a significant amount of money as a bribe. Once employed, their main objective becomes recouping the money that was spent on the bribe. This vicious cycle is a major contributing factor to corruption.

# Low Salaries and Economic Disparities: Insufficient public sector salaries and economic disparities contribute to corruption, as individuals may resort to illegitimate means to supplement their income.

# Insufficient Provision of Healthcare and Education: One of the primary reasons for the issue at hand is the insufficient provision of healthcare and education facilities. Being a third-world country with a large population, it is a daunting task for the government to ensure that its citizens have access to these basic amenities. Consequently, the government is unable to provide its people with the best healthcare and education facilities. As a result, people are forced to compete with one another to secure the best facilities by spending a considerable amount of money. Many families have become impoverished due to spending too much on healthcare for their loved ones. It’s a sad reality that too many people face. Unfortunately, some people turn to corruption as a way to deal with the uncertainties in life. It’s a harmful practice that not only harms individuals but also worsens the overall state of society.

# Political Interference: Political involvement in administrative matters can lead to corruption, with individuals using their political influence for personal gain.

# Desire for Luxurious Facilities: Many people desire to have access to luxurious facilities, and this desire is often driven by a societal mindset that associates costly items with the upper class, which can lead to corruption.

# Cultural Factors: Deep-rooted cultural factors, such as a historical acceptance of bribery in certain contexts, can perpetuate corrupt practices.

# Parental Aspirations: In this area, many parents want to earn money to support their children. However, this desire sometimes pushes them to make money in dishonest ways, leading to corruption.

Who am I?
=> You are neither this body nor the sense organs. You are neither mind nor intellect. You are pure Consciousness. The Consciousness which is the ubiquitous witness.

=> That God creates, maintains, and destroys the world.

=> He is without birth, without death, and without cause.

What are the causes of birth?
=> Unfulfilled cravings, desires and the results of one’s actions. Those are the cause of birth.

Who is free from the bondage of life and death?
=> The one who has realized Self, has come to know Soul and is free from the bondage of life and death.

Why are there sorrows in the world?
=> Greed, selfishness and fear are the causes of sorrow in the world.

Why did God create sorrows?
=> God created the world. And humans created joys and sorrows through their thoughts and actions.

What is Fate?
=> It is the result of every action, every act. Result can be either good or bad. The result itself is Fate. Today’s attempt is tomorrow’s Fate.

What is the secret of joy and peace?
=> Truth, good conduct, love and forgiveness are the causes of joy. Giving up untruth, bad conduct, hatred and hostility leads to peace.

How can the mind be controlled?
=> Desires and cravings create disturbances in the mind. Conquering desires amount to conquering the mind.

What is true love?
=> Seeing one’s own Self in everyone is true love. True love is seeing one’s own Self as all-pervading. Seeing one’s own Self as one with all is true love.

Why doesn’t one love everyone?
=> The one who cannot see himself in everyone cannot love everyone.

What is attachment?
=> Attachment is when there is demand, expectation and rightfulness in love.

মানুষের মায়া জিনিসটা অত্যন্ত শক্তিশালী জিনিস। আমরা সাধারণ অবস্থায় হয়তো এই কথাটা বিশ্বাস করে নেব। কেউ কোন দ্বিমতও করবো না। কিন্তু সাধারণ অবস্থায় এটা উপলব্ধি করাও সম্ভব না। কিছু জিনিস উপলব্ধি করা ছাড়া বোঝা যায় না।

এই জগতে কোন কিছুই চিরস্থায়ী নয়, এটা আক্ষরিক অর্থেই বাস্তব। এটাই চিরন্তন সত্য। এই সত্যিটা যারা মন দিয়ে বিশ্বাস করতে পারে, তারাই প্রকৃত সুখী হতে পারে। তুমিই অবশ্য এই প্রশ্নও করতে পারো, তাহলে এতো সময়ে পরিচয়, এতো সব বিষয়ের সমাবেশ, এতো সময়, যদি ছেড়েই চলে যেতে হয়, তাহলে এগুলোর কি কোন মূল্যই নেই!! আমি বলব অবশ্যই আছে! তুমি একটু চিন্তা করলেই এটা বুঝতে পারবে। এইটা বুঝতে গেলেও কিছু কথা বলে নিতে হবে।

এই বিশ্ব বড়ই জটিল। সবার জন্ম অথবা সৃষ্টিই হয় কোন না কোন উদ্দেশ্য পূর্তির জন্য। সমগ্রও সৃষ্টির জীবনই সেই উদ্দেশ্য পূর্তির জন্য অতিবাহিত হয়। আমরা সবাই এই মহাজাগতিক কর্মকাণ্ডের অতি ক্ষুদ্র এক একটি বিন্দু স্বরূপ। এই সব বিন্দুর সংযোগের ফলেই তৈরি হয় এই মহাসৃষ্টির গতিশীলতা অর্থাৎ এই মহাজাগতিক কর্মযজ্ঞ। এখানে আমরা বলতে কিন্তু শুধু আমরা মানুষই না বরং আমরা বলতে সব কিছু বোঝানো হয়েছে। প্রাণী, পাহাড় পর্বত, নদীনালা, বাতাস, সমস্থ গ্রহ, নক্ষত্র, নীহারিকা, সমগ্র সৃষ্টি এই সবকিছু। আমাদের সবার এই একত্র কর্মের দ্বারাই সব কিছু গতিশীল হয়। সব কিছুই কোন না কোন কিছুর উপর তাদের অস্তিতের একটা প্রভাব ফেলে। কিন্তু অনেক সময় যখন আমরা এই প্রভাব আমাদের সীমিত জ্ঞান দিয়ে বিশেষণ করি, এটা আপাত দৃষ্টিতে খারাপ হিসেবে প্রতিপন্ন হতে পারে। কিন্তু সামগ্রিক ভাবে, “যা হয় সব কিছু ভালোর জন্যই হয়” এই কথাটাও চিরন্তন সত্য।

এখন আমাদের প্রশ্নের উত্তরে আসা যাক, আমাদের সমগ্রও পারিপার্শ্বিক পরিবেশ, মানুষজন, যাদের দ্বারা আমরা প্রতিনিয়ত প্রভাবিত হই, এই সবই আমাদের “আমি” করে তোলে। এখানে “আমি” বলতে আমাদের চারিত্রিক গঠন, আমাদের মানসিকতা, আমাদের সত্ত্বা, আমাদের ব্যক্তিত্ব বোঝানো হয়েছে। এই জীবনে একজন মানুষ কিংবা কোন কিছুর সান্নিধ্যে থাকার সময়ও নির্দিষ্ট। প্রথমেই বললাম, কোন কিছু, কোন বন্ধনই চিরস্থায়ী নয়। কোন কিছু সৃষ্টির উদ্দেশ্য পূর্তি হলেই সেই সৃষ্টির অস্তিতের দরকারও শেষ হয়ে যাই। এটাই কঠিন বাস্তবতা। কিন্তু আমাদের জীবনে তাদের সময় শেষ হয়ে গেলেও তাদের একটা প্রভাব সব সময় থেকে যায়, তাদের থেকে অর্জিত শিক্ষাটাও থেকে যায়। হয়তো এই অর্জিত শিক্ষা, জ্ঞান, এই প্রভাব, পরবর্তী জীবনে আমাদের দ্বারা নির্ধারিত, আমাদের সৃষ্টির উদ্দেশ্য পূরণের জন্য একটা অত্যাবশ্যকীয় অংশ হয়ে দাঁড়ায়, যেটার কিনা দরকার ছিল। সত্যি বলতে, এই সব কিছুই মহাজাগতিক পরিকল্পনার একটা অংশ।

আমি লেখনিতে খুব একটা পটু না। জানি না, এই বিষয়ে আমার মনের ভাব আমি কতটুকু তুলে ধরতে পেরেছি। সব শেষে আমার একটা খুব পছন্দের উক্ততি দিয়ে শেষ করি। “This too shall pass.”

Darkness, the truest darkness, is not the absence of light. It is the conviction that the light will never return. But the light always returns to show us things familiar. Home, family, friends, and things entirely new, or long overlooked. It shows us new possibilities and challenges us to pursue them. After so many years of realization, I can draw a conclusion that what is the opposite word of love. Yes, you’re right, you’re probably right that hatred is not that word. Love and hatred both bring you happiness. When you hate someone, you enjoy when he or she is in pain, you laugh when he or she fails. It’s really one kind of caring, it matters to you when he or she passes or fails. In a broad sense, I never suggest anyone hate someone. Hatred just brings disaster. The opposite word of love is apathy in a wise sense. You don’t give a shit to someone is the real opposite feelings of love.

আজ ২৩শে ডিসেম্বর, বাংলাদেশের প্রখ্যাত কথাসাহিত্যক ও বিজ্ঞান কল্পকাহিনী লেখক, কলাম লেখক, পদার্থবিদ, শিক্ষাবিদ ও আন্দোলনকর্মী ড. মুহম্মদ জাফর ইকবাল স্যারের ৬৯তম জন্মদিন। স্যারের জন্ম ১৯৫২ সালের ২৩ ডিসেম্বর, সিলেট জেলায়। তার পিতা মুক্তিযোদ্ধা শহীদ ফয়জুর রহমান আহমদ এবং মা আয়েশা আখতার খাতুন। স্যার, ১৯৬৮ সালে বগুড়া জিলা স্কুল থেকে এসএসসি এবং ১৯৭০ সালে ঢাকা কলেজ থেকে এইচএসসি পাশ করেন। তিনি ১৯৭২ সালে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পদার্থবিজ্ঞান বিভাগে ভর্তি হন। ১৯৭৬ সালে স্নাতক পাশ করে তিনি যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ওয়াশিংটন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে পিএইচডি অর্জন করতে যান। পিএইচডি ডিগ্রি লাভ করার পর তিনি ক্যলিফোর্নিয়া ইন্সটিটিউট অব টেকনলজি ও বেল কমিউনিকেশনস রিসার্চে ১৮ বছর কাজ করেন, পরে তিনি বাংলাদেশে ফিরে আসেন ও শাহজালাল বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে অধ্যাপক হিসেবে যুক্ত হন। ২০১৯ সালের অক্টোবরে তিনি অবসরে চলে যান।

ছোট বেলা থেকে যেই মানুষকে Idol হিসেবে ভেবে এসেছি, যার কল্পবিজ্ঞান পড়ে পড়ে বড় হয়েছি, সাস্ট এ পড়ার সুবাদেই হোক আর যাই হোক, আমাদের তাঁর সান্নিধ্যে আসার সুযোগ হয়। আর সৌভাগ্যবসত আমাদের বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় জীবনের প্রথম ক্লাস স্যার নিজে নেন। স্যার এর প্রথম দিনের ক্লাসের কিছু কথা আমার মাঝেমধ্যেই মনে পড়ে। স্যার বলেছিলেন, “আমরা ক্লাসরুমে যেটা পড়াই সেটা তোমাদের education এর ৫% বাকি ৯৫% তোমাদের নিজের দায়িত্ব, তোমরা এগুলা বাইরে থেকেই শিখবে, জীবন থেকে শিখবে। University কোনো training center না, যে আমরা তোমাদের নিয়ে এসে training দিয়ে ছেড়ে দিব। Universe কথার অর্থ জানো? বিশ্বব্রহ্মাণ্ড! এটা খালি পৃথিবী না, Solar System না! সমস্ত বিশ্বব্রহ্মাণ্ড। এখান থেকে আমরা তোমাদের সব ধরণের জ্ঞান দিয়ে, মানুষের মত মানুষ হিসেবে তৈরি করে দিতে চাই।” এখন মাঝেমধ্যেই ভাবি আদর্শ শিক্ষকের অর্থ কি!? ভাবতে গেলেই প্রমথ চৌধুরীর বই পড়া প্রবন্ধের কথা মনে পড়ে যায়। স্যারের সাথে বই পড়া প্রবন্ধে আদর্শ শিক্ষকের অনেক মিল খুঁজে পাওয়া যায়। স্যার, আরও বলতেন, “তোমাদের ক্লাসে যতো বেশি ধরণের শিক্ষার্থী থাকবে ততো আমার ক্লাস নিতে ভাল লাগবে! আমি চাই বাংলাদেশের তথা বিশ্বের সব ধরণের সংস্কৃতি থেকে শিক্ষার্থীরা যেন একটা ক্লাসে এসে জড়ো হয়। তোমাদের মধ্যে একতাবদ্ধতা তৈরি হোক, তোমরা একে অন্যের সংস্কৃতিকে আরও ভাল করে বুঝতে শিখো, আরও বেশি সহিষ্ণু হও।” প্রথমে পত্রপত্রিকায়, টিভিতে, বই পড়ে স্যারের জন্য আলাদা যেই সম্মানের জায়গা ছিল, স্যারকে সামনাসামনি দেখে, তাঁর কথাবার্তা, জীবনদর্শন, দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি জেনে তাঁর জন্য সম্মান যেন আরও শতসহস্র গুণ বেড়ে গিয়েছে। আমার কাছে, স্যার খুব সুন্দর মনের একজন সাদাসিধে মানুষ। এমন মানুষ আমাদের সমাজে খুব কমই আছেন।

বাঙ্গালি জাতিকে একটা বিজ্ঞান নির্ভর, যুক্তি নির্ভর জাতিতে পরিণত করার স্বপ্নদ্রষ্টা, ড. মুহম্মদ জাফর ইকবাল স্যারের জন্মদিনে স্যারকে জানাই আমাদের আন্তরিক শুভেচ্ছা। স্যার, আপনি আজীবন আমাদের মাঝে এমন করেই বিজ্ঞান চিন্তা ছড়িয়ে দিতে থাকেন, আপনি আপনার পরিবার নিয়ে সুস্থ-স্বাভাবিক, রোগমুক্ত জীবনযাপন করেন, ঈশ্বরের কাছে এই প্রার্থনা করি। স্যার,আজীবন ভাল থাকবেন

একটাই তো প্রশ্ন, তো কি হইছে?

জীবন থেকে একজন মানুষইতো চলে গেছে, তো কি হইছে?
১ বছরই তো বেশি পড়ালেখা করতে হবে, তো কি হইছে?

পকেটে টাকা-পয়সা থাকবে না, তো কি হইছে?
কেউ একবার জিজ্ঞাসাও করবে না কেমন আছ, তো কি হইছে?

যদি কাল ও জিজ্ঞাসা না করে, তো কি হইছে?

নাহলে ব্লগ লিখও, কোথায় মনের কথা পোস্ট করো,
নিজের নাম লিখও না, শুধু নিজের মনের কথা লিখে ফেলো,
That matter the most!
কেনকি একবার যদি মন থেকে কষ্ট বের করে দাও,
তাহলে দুঃখ অর্ধেক হয়ে যাবে, তো আর কি চাই!
